Red is Aleia red
The three-day Rose festival in the Dutch village Lottum was held from the 10 until the 13th of August. Every two years the center of Lottum is transformed from Friday to Monday into a true rose festival. Along the route you will see many mosaics, gardens and objects exhibited in and around the center. The exposition was spread throughout the whole village and the purpose of this event is to promote the roses which are the key-business for the inhabitants. The organization depends totally on volunteers who help to realize all floral designs. The visitors were treated with about 200.000 roses. All the red ones there were to be found, were provided by Aleia roses. We supported the event by sponsoring with 15.000 roses for various arrangements and 4.000 of them were used in the already well-known Rose wall.
It was placed on the Rosequeen Gallery; a ‘boulevard’ which leads from the market place to the event facility. On this promenade the rose wall was a beautiful background for the perfect picture. Many people did make a selfie and expressed their admiration for the wall.
Besides that, the so called Rosequeen had the task to make promotion during the weeks before the event. She distributed on o.a. local markets our roses with a card attached which announced the Rosefestival and invited people to come. During the event itself she was carrying a bouquet of the Aleia roses and also during the grand opening on Friday and business meeting on Saturday.
Popular despite bad weather
The event has attracted 45.000 visitors even though the weather was unpredictable: from very sunny to big rainshowers. The visitors were mostly from the Netherlands and Germany but even visitors from Greece and Slovenia were spotted.
In several media there was publication of the participation of Aleia Roses; like in Bloemen en Planten nieuws:
